About The Artist
Rachael Boddington has been drawing, making and painting things for nigh on 40 years and always wanted to be an Artist when she grew up. She worked as a Scene Painter and Props Maker for several regional Repertory Theatres and Scenic Production Companies between the ages of 16-23, during which time she gained a BA Hons Degree in Theatre Design. Falling in love with Whitby back in 2004, Rachael moved there temporarily to do a 3 week painting job and ended up staying for, what will be, 16 years in September. Rachael has painted murals, held a 'Lost At Sea' exhibition at Sheffield's Clocktower Gallery, organised an independent 'Exhibition' pop-up shop of her handcrafted seaside souvenirs in 2009 and ran an exclusive, flourishing, 'Glittermoth Factory' gallery space on Flowergate, Whitby. Her time is now split between designing and running creative workshops, exhibiting and selling her creations at various galleries and contemporary art fairs throughout the country and doing special commissions of creatures, masks or anything a bit out of the ordinary.
Having launched her 'Glittermoth Factory' brand name in 2010, Rachael has steadily built up a reputation for producing a wide range of quirky, quality artwork. She always has a broad variety of work on the boil and is encouraged by the continued support she has from her many local customers, friends and visitors who return again and again to buy her wares.
Rachael was welcomed back to 'The Art Market' Holmfirth on the 24th June 2012, following her award for 'Best Presented Stall' there November 2010.
