HOST Open Studios West Yorkshire Print Workshop Mirfield This Weekend 8th & 9th September Amy Hirst, fellow King Ludd conspirator and newly appointed West Yorkshire Sculpture Park Resident Freelance Artist (Puppetry and Storytelling in Schools) will be one of the many Artists inviting the public to have a look around their studios for this enlightening 2 day event. Rachael Boddington and Amy Hirst devised and made the installation, Loom Raider for Holmfirth's 'Art Market' in June. Following his popularity there, King Ludd is back, this time in Amy's studio, for more interactive smashing. Amy will be showing a broad range of her puppets, sharing visual stories and playful new work in the making... Try your hand at Interactive Installation 'Loom Raider' as part of Holmfirth's Indoor Market Pop-up Exhibition evening and the main Art Market event... Artists Rachael Boddington (Glittermoth Factory) and Amy Hirst are proud to present a rare appearance by the worker's hero King Ludd. The good people of Holmfirth are invited to step up to (puppet) King Ludd's cabinet and help him wield his hammer and his shoe to redistribute the wealth back to those skilled ones amongst you. This is the first time King Ludd has been revealed to the public in 200 years! See him in action 6.30pm-9.30pm 23rd June and all day on 24th June This will be an interactive installation inspired by the legend of King Ludd, inviting Art Market visitors to peep into the past, to celebrate the story of the Luddites and their important place in our history. The artists will be present to welcome people, share in conversations and facilitate their engagement with the work. Visitors will be invited to manipulate the puppet.
